2 PM this (Saturday) afternoon at Spectrum: Bass / funk dispenser phenom Jesse Krakow brings us a three-hour Minor Music Matinee of exceptional (evidently at times weird - at least one can hope) music from gifted adolescents. My visiting teen-age daughter owes me big on this one. From the curator: The Day Has Come! Today at 2pm I will launch Minor Music Matinees, a monthly series spotlighting young musicians. The debut will feature, in order: Billy! (Brittany Anjou Adm Mnkff Nick Oddy), Quartet This Side Up, Boogietown (Tom Shad), Throb( Adam John Wolff), Owen McCloskey, Victoria Park, Ricotta Bulb (Stephen Jacobs), Corby Pryor, Henry Blake Nelson, Absolute Zero (Richard Wolff), & Paris Lavidis. Will they be playing all your favorite classic rock hits? No. Will they be playing deconstructed childrens tunes, modern classical music, flamenco guitar, art-pop, conducted improv, prepared instruments, & songs about The Civil War? Yes. And they are all under 18. Doors at 1:45, show from 2-5pm. $10. All-ages. Please come and support the future of strange, beautiful music.
