2 REPORTED DEAD IN A CRASH INVOLVING A CAR AND SEMI RIG IN MERCER CO. MERCER CO. --- (September 24, 2014) UPDATE @ 9:49 p.m.: A second fatality has been reported in the multiple-vehicle accident. As many as 50 Dayton Power & Light customers are without electric service because a pole was brought down in the accident. That pole, which was located on State Route 49, will have to be replaced and crews were working to get that done, said Tom Tatham, DP&L operations director. UPDATE @ 8:55 p.m.: The accident north of Fort Recovery has turned fatal and there are reports that power lines have been brought down in the accident, WCSM radio is reporting. Roads in the area of the accident have been shut down. FIRST REPORT: A serious accident at State Routes 49 and 29, north of Fort Recovery and near the Indiana state line, is believed to have involved a semitrailer and a passenger vehicle. A Mercer County sheriffs dispatcher reports that deputies and medic units are on scene and that the roadway would likely be shut down soon. Were told that there are injuries, but were working to confirm the seriousness of those injuries. he accident was reported to have occurred just after 7:30 p.m. We will update this story as we get details.
