#2 Reason for postponing ANY City of Newport Charter change Your current Alderman (except one), your Mayor, your interim City Administrator, your Finance Director chose to MISLEAD the public and not tell the truth about the letter they all received a copy of from the Comptrollers office concerning this years budget and any upcoming budgets in the future. Since one of your alderman wanted the budget pushed through before the election, I thought if James and Tina wanted the next city council to respect their loyalty to the city and its taxpayers, they would tell the TRUTH. After all, Tina is a full time employee(not elected) and James is interim but wants the job permanently (not elected). WE would think these employees would admit to their mistakes. Has the current City Council made them so afraid of losing their jobs if they are transparent that they would risk their integrity? Are they that controlling? James is a part of the good ole boys that include Kenny, Bill, Johnny, Connie, have they agreed to keeps this under lock and key because of elections and James, push for permanent status as City Administrator. SCARY!!! I think they ALL need to be EXPOSED for lack of accountability and transparency. WE all know Scott, James, Connie, Bill, Kenny, Johnny do not know how to balance a budget without borrowing money, why try to hide it now? Just because it is election time? Dont do us any favors. TAXPAYERS know you already. WE have your number. What I think is funny is that you have the nerve to think we are so uneducated about the city government that we will buy your five and dime shuffle. We have KNOWLEDGE now! WE are watching and catching you every time you make a mistake and try to hide it. WHAT is the Comptroller telling us? NO more money can be borrowed to make the budgets work. What does this mean for the city of Newport? $600,000.00 dollars was borrowed to make budget last for first 6 months, this will not be allowed anymore and if it does happen, the Comptrollers office will come in and take over. What has to be done? Your new city council will have no other choice than to raise taxes or eliminate approximately 20 city employees from payroll to balance the budget. What do I say? Make sure when this happens you know who to lay the blame on. Your current city council, your current mayor and your interim city administrator. Your interim city administrator and your current city council rushed it through knowing the expenditures were more than the tax revenue. I pull the current mayor in the picture because he should have spoke up last night instead up being rude. Connie cant keep riding both sides of the fence. One alderman is exempt from all of this because they have admitted the truth. You will surely not find the answer in any of the names I have mentioned above. There are only two left and you can ask if you get a chance to talk to them. Wish me luck, I am requesting paperwork this week from city hall to prove the $68,000 check that bounced to TCRS (employees retirement system) was eventually paid and what line item did it come from? A city bouncing checks............? ANY decisions this city council has made needs to be questioned. They have devastated our city. DO NOT let your Mayor tell you he didnt know. HE receives a letter along with the city administrator and city council. Whatever happened to when mistakes happen we admit them and recover? When did all this secrecy become a way to run our system? No one is perfect so why take all this trouble to hide our imperfections. I will start and give 2 of my imperfections. 1. I am quick to anger when being deceived. 2. I cringe when I enter a room full of unchecked testosterone. LOL. Have a great night!
