2 Timothy 1:7 ESV [7] for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control ( sound mind). There is no doubt that it would be easy to succumb to the spirit of fear with all that is present in the world today. ISIS, Ebola, Respiratory virus, a harsh winter ahead, water and food shortages throughout the world, violence in every nation, political upheaval, religious persecution (although minor) in America, it is here and it will grow worse. The list could continue, but I am certain that you see that the world we all once were apart of no longer exists. The prince and power of the Air, is making his final push to destroy Gods creation and his purpose on planet earth. Men and women have abandoned the righteousness of God. Paul, wrote the following to the Roman believers: Romans 1:18-25 ESV [18] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. [19] For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. [20] For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. [21] For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. [22] Claiming to be wise, they became fools, [23] and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. [24] Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, [25] because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. In other words, man has turned his back on God and has chosen to worship himself and the things that give his flesh pleasure. They chose to live under the wrath of God instead of the covering and blessing of God. 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 ESV [13] When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, [14] if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. There is hope. We as Gods people must abandon our selfish and world centered way of life and begin to cry out to the Lord in prayer. Although, he was speaking to a specific group of people in this passage, the principle still holds true today. If we will humble ourselves, pray and seek the face of the Lord and TURN from our own wicked ways. He promises to HEAR, FORGIVE and HEAL our land. Brothers and sisters, I want to challenge us each day to do this privately and together as the body of Christ. Privately, in your day and flow of life, in your own time with the Lord and together on Facebook. I will post a prayer everyday and ask each of you to comment with your own prayer short or long and share it. We are doing this as a sign of our faith, love and obedience to our great God. PRAYER Lord Jesus, forgive me for my murmuring and complaining about the government and the circumstances that are in the world. Forgive me for my anger and my lack of trust in you. I know that our only hope to heal America is you. Forgive me for I have sinned, forgive my family for we have sinned, forgive this country for abandoning you. Help us to turn away from wickedness and worldliness and live surrendered lives of thankfulness and worship before you and the world. Heal this land as I and the rest of your people humble ourselves, pray and seek your face. We believe you are merciful and we ask you to show mercy to this country. In Jesus Name
