2 Timothy Chapter 2 has a lot to teach us about honour and honouring God. If you study it carefully you will find that it confirms what 1 Samuel in Chapters 2 to 4 talks about. In a great house are vessels both of honour and dishonour. It is important to understand this. It does not mean that God has predestined some to honour and some to dishonour. All it is saying is that we have the capability of living either in honour or dishonour before God. How do we know this? 2 Tim. 2:21 says that IF a man purges himself of these he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and meet for the Master’s use. So you see that it’s not up to God to make you a vessel either of honour or dishonour. It is up to you and I. God is a righteous and just God. He actually expects you to act smart and be a vessel of gold. Who wants to be a pot of clay anyway? I mean clay cannot take a tenth of the pressure that gold or silver will take! “But Pastor, the Bible says that we have this glory in earthen vessels!” Yea, that’s only talking about the body that you live in. Your spirit – the real you – is made from the same material as God Himself. But it’s up to you to develop that spirit into its fullest potential; and that’s where you talk about vessels of gold or vessels of clay or mud. I’ll tell you right now that God wants to drink out of the golden cup! Which one will you be?
