2 years back on Karvachoth- Is anything special today? He asked her. Ya. Today is karvachoth. She told him. What it is? He asked her again. On karvachoth, married womens keep fast for their husbands long lives and unmarried girls keep fast for their future husband. They eat Sargi early in the morning and after that they dont drink or eat anything whole day. They apply mehendi on their hands before karvachoth. She explained to him. And how they break this fast? He asked her again. At night, they perform some rituals and after looking at the moon, they do Aarti of their husbands and moon then they do few things more after that their husbands make them eat some sweet and drink water. This way they break their fast and have dinner with their whole family. Its kind of interesting. She said to him. Ya. It does sound interesting. Why didnt you kept fast for me? He asked her. I thought youll not like if Ill keep fast for you. She replied casually. I would have object you some other time but not for this. He said to her. Even if I would have kept fast for you but then how would I have break it without you?? You are in Mumbai not in Nagpur to break my fast. She asked him. Stupid. I would have come to Nagpur na to break your fast and because of this I would have got a chance to meet you. He said to her. As if I dont have college to attain and what should I have said to mom for not doing breakfast and lunch? You know mom never lets me go to college without eating anything. She makes sure that I eat proprely and then I leave for my college. She told him. Dumb, if I would have been there then I wouldnt have let you go to college. We would have spent whole day together with each other. And about aunty, I know you would have convinced her by your tactics. I know you very well and I know how good you are in making excuses. I know, you everytime makes a new excuse to come and meet me so this time also you would have come up with something.He said to her. Uh-huh. You know me so well. She replied playfully. Ofcourse, I do. He said little loudly. Easy Mr. I know you and you know me. We both know each other well. She said to him smiling. From next year onwards, youll keep karvachoths fast for me. He told her. Okay. I will keep it for you. She said to him. Back to Present- Its been two years to this incident and they are not together anymore because of some reasons. She was standing all alone in a balcony and was gazing at the moon when suddenly this conversation with him striked her mind by looking at the moon and by looking at those womens around her home which were breaking fast of karvachoth on their respective terraces with their husbands. She looked at the moon then closed her eyes and prayed for his long live when suddenly a tear trickled down her eyes because his face flashed in front of her eyes. She wiped that tear and kept on looking at the moon for a long time. Time changes in a jiffy but memories stays there only still as fresh as they were made before. Purvi
