20/12/16 Finished work at 1 am this morning and returned to our billet to spend the rest of the night. It was frightfully cold and this morning there is a heavy frost. Received a small parcel from my sister Doris containing a plentiful supply of note-paper, a box of 20 BDV cigarettes and some chocolate, all of which I am very grateful to receive. On duty 10.30 am to 1.30 pm and again at 5 pm until 9 pm. Political, etc. German War Loan 535,000,000 Marks President Wilsons Peace Conference Note handed to Belligerents .------------------------------------------------- T:he Romanian campaign: was part of the Balkan theatre of World War I, with Romania and Russia allied against the armies of the Central Powers. Fighting took place from August 1916 to December 1917, across most of present-day Romania, including Transylvania, which was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the time, as well as southern Dobruja, which is currently part of Bulgaria. Romania entered the war in an attempt to seize Transylvania, an area in Austria-Hungary with a Romanian ethnic majority but under Hungarian administration.
