$20.82 Hr - CRANE OPERATOR GENERAL SUMMARY- This position is responsible for assisting Crane Technicians in the maintenance and repair of all cranes to include gantry, friction, mobile cranes and support equipment to ensure downtown is kept at the lowest possible level. Will operate all cranes as required to make tests of all systems, spreader changes, other maintenance operations, and for cargo handling. Maintain engine run logs, billing logs, and equipment maintenance records. Performs preventative maintenance, assists in generator and/or motor removal and installation and assists in maintenance of diesel power units. Pre-checks and maintains support equipment and assists in trouble-shooting all systems (electrical, hydraulic and mechanical). May be required to be in an “on-call” status as determined by the terminal where assigned and its operational environment. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High School graduate or equivalent is required. Minimum of three years’ experience required in industrial or residential electrical systems. Must be able to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals. Training in the above may be substituted for experience. Must be able to obtain a valid “Class B Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Tanker and Hazmat endorsement within three months of date of employment. License must be maintained during employment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must be able to lift 50 pounds ten times per hour, lift 50 pounds and carry it 10 yards, lift both arms above shoulder level frequently, stand or walk for extended periods per shift, climb aboard power equipment, detect differences in the sound of machinery, hear and understand voices over a radio or pager and read text with or without corrective lenses. Must be willing and able to perform routinely at heights in excess of 200 feet above the ground and waterway. Must be able to work weekends, extended hours on a regular basis and rotating shifts every 4 months. Bend, stoop, kneel, work in cramped spaces, work around chemical hazards and heavy equipment. Work in areas with high noise levels, exposure to contaminants, pollutants, gases, odors, dust, chemical hazards, falling objects, work around moving parts and machinery, hazardous equipment, high traffic areas and high voltage. Position constantly works in outdoor weather conditions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Equipment Operator Primary Responsibilities: Operates forklifts in a safe manner to stack and retrieve supplies and materials while maintaining inventory and ensuring production area organization and cleanliness. Tasks Performed: • Lifts, stacks, un-stacks and moves materials using diesel, electric or gas powered trucks equipped with fork or clamp attachments. • Ensures goods are stored in the correct area for efficient retrieval. • Loads/unloads transport vehicles. • May perform variety of manual duties including lashing and shoring cargo aboard ship, attaching slings, hooks, or other lifting devices to winch for loading or unloading and signaling other workers to move, raise or lower cargo. • May direct activities of cargo gang or less experienced stevedores. • Keeps a record of daily operations. • Performs quality checking responsibilities as required. Mandatory Qualifications: Can pass written and equipment operation forklift certification test. Basic knowledge area’s include: Safety Procedures; Truck Inspections; Storage and Exchange Points; Counterbalance Effect; Stability Triangle; Center of Gravity; Equipment Terminology; Attachments/Load centers; Battery Inspection; and Material handling including loading and de-stacking, unloading and stacking of counterbalance, traveling/Ramps/Trailers and parking. Ability to work overtime during the week or on weekends. Required to lift up to 60 lbs on an intermittent basis. The employee is frequently required to sit with alternate standing. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is subject to outside weather conditions or a covered warehouse environment.
