20 years ago, October 3rd/4th, 1993, The Battle of the Black Sea, popularly known as "Blackhawk Down", took place. 18 US service members died, including two SOF snipers who were killed as they attempted to safeguard the crew of one of the fallen helicopters; MSG Gary Gordon and SFC Randy Shugart were later awarded posthumous Medals of Honor for their heroic efforts.
