20 yrs ago you could buy chicken wings for15 cents a lb. Butcher shops were practically giving them away as waste. The popularity of buffalo wings and the wing pubs, appetizers everywhere , and the cooking up of wings in every type and ethnicity of sauces and rubs has driven the price higher than chicken breast (always considered the premium part of the bird) For the last couple of years America has been on an add bacon to everything edible path...today at my Kroger-Oscar Mayer bacon 5.49 for 12 oz. which translates to 6.87 lb. ...boneless loin chops 2.99 lb....geesh I should have bought stock in lard
