2013 Con Reviews in short To everyone that says you go to so many!! Guys, I only went to 15. 1. Magfest (Washington DC 1/3-1/6): Best con of the year, going back in 2014. Even bought a badge because I am all about the music! And free play awesome arcade! And Gaylord decorated for Christmas! Being surrounded by video game nerds is just me being in my element. 2. Katsucon (Washington DC 2/15-2/17): Surprisingly great con for meeting people and the Gaylord is gorgeous. The group that was also booked that weekend was ridiculous with the retarded segregation. Already booked for 2014, hope that same group isnt there. 3. Momocon (Atlanta, GA 3/8-3/10): I feel like this is Atlantas answer to Animefest. Small con that is really growing. They have moved dates to Memorial Day so its a tough call between this or Fanime. 4. Aselia Con (Dallas, TX 3/15-3/17): Yea, Tales Con. Despite having fewer than 100 attendees, I had a lot of fun. Definitely back in 2014. Been promoting the crap out of it at every con Ive been to, so hopefully we double the 2013 attendance. 5. Anime Matsuri (Houston, TX 3/29-3/31): I really hated this convention. Horrible layout, couldnt keep the temperature comfortable. We spent the whole time outside on our sacrificial altar. I will never go back. 6. Fanime (San Jose, CA 5/24-5/27): I had fun. I also didnt register or wait in any lines. Construction of the con center was rough but should be better next year. Hoping to go back, but Momocon. Local or other side of the country? Choices. 7. Akon (Dallas, TX 5/31-6/2): Anatole is a beautiful hotel and I wanted to spend the whole time outside admiring the scenery. But its hot. Layout was horribly, hope they get their act together next year. I will definitely be back, because I pretty much always go to Akon, its my hometown con. 8. Anime Expo (Los Angeles, CA 7/4-7/7): I had way too much fun at AX and will definitely be back in 2014. Its huge but its like they are the only con that is large and has figured out how to get enough space to accommodate everything. 9. Metrocon (Tampa, FL 7/26-7/28): This is a small and fairly uninteresting con. Enjoyed spending time with the people I met, but the location was neither scenic nor exciting. Unlikely to go back. 10. Animefest (Dallas, TX 8/30-9/2): I love this Labor Day con. It has grown up from the baby hometown con I loved but still has tons of space with the new venue. May not be back since they are moving off Labor Day in 2014. Im upset about this change. 11. Nan Desu Kan (Denver, CO 9/13-9/15): Went there with my bff to see old friends. The con itself was by far the worst of the year. Well probably replace this with Blizzcon in 2014 as the one out of state con I can drag her to. 12. Anime Weekend Atlanta (Atlanta, GA 9/27-9/29): Not as awesome as last year but I can only assume that was because I had too much going on. I had fun AT my panel but not so much during the set up. I felt just so busy, with too much going on, and too many costume changes, to really enjoy myself. That being said, 2014 is a go. 13. Nerdapalooza (Orlando, FL 10/19-10/20): lol wasted all their money getting a somewhat recognizable band to come play and put themselves out of business. 14. Onicon (Galveston, TX 10/25-10/27): Highlight was the Earthbound Papas concert. Besides that, this con was pretty small and retarded. Beach was gorgeous. Getting threatened to be arrested over a paper airplane was particularly sad. Probably wont go back. 15. Youmacon (Detroit, MI 11/1-11/3): Only con I can say is actually way too spread out. I didnt understand why it was split or why so far apart. Really cold outdoors but lots of space indoors. I will probably go back to this or one of the other midwest cons.
