2013 McCreary County 4-H Entries at the State Fair 4-H’ers from McCreary County made 39 entries into the Kentucky State Fair 4-H Division. The State Fair uses the Danish system to judge 4-H entries. Under the Danish system every entry receives a ribbon based upon quality. A blue ribbon means the child did a great job. A red ribbon means the child did a good job; the entry need needs some work. A white ribbon means the entry needs more work. McCreary County Youth received 31 Blue Ribbons, 6 Red Ribbons and 2 White Ribbons. They also brought home three Class Champions. Sewing: Jena Perkins received a Blue for her Sewing I Garment Bag entry. Foods: Macie Spradlin received a red in cookies and Reis Anderson got a white on her biscuits Home Environment: Caleb Murphy received a blue and was class champion with his stool in the Small Wood Item with a Natural Finish. Reis Anderson received a red in Sewing I No Machine class; Macie Spradlin received a blue for her pillow case Arts: BreeLynn Brown: Blue -Jr. Jewelry and Jr. Weaving, Amanda McKnight: Blue in Sr. Jewelry, Reis Anderson: Blue in Jr. Ceramics and Red in Folk Art , McKenzie Hamlin: Blue in Jr. Basket Making, Tamara Hayes: Blue in Sr. Basket Making, Riley King: Blue in Jr. Scrapbooking, Destiny Dixon: Blue in Paper Crafts, Waylan Dople: Blue in Jr. Oil Painting, Kelsey Gilreath: Blue in Sr. Oil Painting and Sr. Color Drawing, Mahala Ball: Blue in Jr. Water Color, Michael Coffey: Blue in Jr. Color Drawing, Rebecca St. John White in Jr. Black & White Drawing, Quinton Loudermilk: Red in Sr. Black & White Drawing, Laneisha Boyatt received a blue in Jr. Ceramics Hand Formed. Horticulture: Eldon Whitis received a blue for his peppers Wood Science: Daulton Cooper received a blue in Wood I From Kit, Bryson Bryant received a blue in Wood 2 From a Kit, Eldon Whitis received a blue and was Class Champion in Wood 3. Entomology (Honey): Eldon Whitis received a Blue and Class Champion Photography: Bryson Bryant received blues in Level I Single Picture and Horticulture Black & White, Taylor Davis received a red in Level I Still Life, McKinley Chitwood received a red in Level I Animal, Eldon Whitis received Blues in Level 2 Landscape, Level 2 Single My Community, Horticulture Color Single Photograph, Horticulture Sequence of 4, and Horticulture Collection of 6. 4-H Trends: Carrie Jo Shaw received a blue in Jr. Duct Tape Project Bobbie Threet Bryante Blue Ribbon Winning entries are on display at the McCreary County Public Library for the next few weeks.
