2014 A YEAR IN REVIEW It has been a whole year since we decided to drag out the molds and revive our craft business. We did our first craft show in about 25 years last December and have been making towels, totes, blankets, pictures, quilts, wooden toys, cakes, candies, paper craft, and lots of ceramics. We have been doing monthly craft shows and selling a little online through Etsy and eBay. The name of our business is Carousel Creations but that name was not available online so you will find us on Facebook, Etsy, and eBay under Carols Carousel.:. This summer we bought a lot of ceramic molds which brought our collection from about 300 to nearly 1000! We started offering monthly holiday-themed ceramics workshops in October (Witch Workshop), November (Turkey Tea), and December (Santa Workshop). In addition, someone asked about making a glazed lighted ceramic Christmas tree--so 8 tree workshops and 125 trees later we are catching our breath. For the New Year we are having two monthly themed WORKSHOPS: Let It Snow and Its Time for Tea in January; My Pretty Valentine and Dressing Dottie in February; and Lucky Leprechaun: and Bunny Bonanza in March. There will also be Kids Krafts workshops, tentatively once a month, but not until after our remodeling is completed. Hopefully, A Cup of Cocoa in February and Painting Easter Eggs in March. There have been several requests for regular CLASSES which we hope to start in February. Days and Times will be scheduled to meet the needs of those interested. The difference between workshops and classes is: a workshop is a one-time commitment, you come for and afternoon or evening, paint an item that has been cleaned and fired for you, enjoy some refreshment, and take home your prize (unless it has to be fired as with the teapots) all for a set fee of $15.00.A class meets weekly at a specified time, you start by cleaning your own greenware, you may have several pieces in process at the same time, and you pay ala carte as you use the supplies.. SPECIAL EVENTS include Girls Scouts and Homeschoolers (both came to make trees) and other groups; and parties such as for a birthday or other special event. The plan is to continue with some craft shows and online selling, mainly with our Carousel Collection, and to focus on the ceramic classes. Carol retired in December and is now available to join Jim full-time in this retirement endeavor.
