2014 Reflections…. I have enjoyed watching many of my friends, Facebook’s rendition, of their 2014 year. I tried it, but it really didn’t portray my year. When I look at my year in retrospect the first thing that comes to mind is the losses. Surprisingly I lost none of my own dogs….surprisingly because I tend to love and care for the seniors. Blindsided I lost one of my special foster dogs at only six years old. He was adopted by a dear friend and together we mourned the loss. I lost my beloved horse, Rusty at thirty two years old. I had anticipated that loss but it made it no easier. Then Frankie moved in and helped to heal the loss with his youthful enthusiasm. The human loss was also bittersweet. I lost a very special young friend in a senseless way and although I will miss him forever he left behind several new friends for me, whom I dearly treasure. I lost an Aunt who, even though I had lost touch with, held a place in my heart. Because of her death I reconnected with long lost cousins. On the work front, I have been able to take more time for myself and the dogs. I even have had the time to take them for morning walks, which in spite of the “doggie bags” we all really enjoy. So it has truly been a year of both loss and gain. I would say that if we look deeply, every year has its share of pluses and minus. I am strong in my faith that God has the ultimate plan, so with that said….bring it on 2015!
