2014 The Year Of Second Chances As this year has gone by, I - TopicsExpress

2014 The Year Of Second Chances As this year has gone by, I went from being 80 lbs. heavier, barely being able to walk, and nearly having my practical life end, I was given a second chance to take care of myself and relive life. At one point of being told that I would be bedridden for life at the hospital and having 2 days to think about that, I realized that all I had left was my past life. I ended up reliving my past for 2 days because I had nothing else left. One doctor came in and told me that he had a few procedures that he could try, but all except 1 failed. That last procedure gave me a second chance of life. It was not a fix, but only a bandaid to buy me more time. I realize that I could extend that time with weight loss. I did everything I could. I am living out my second chance. I had a very successful deer hunt this year. I have enjoyed every minute of it. I have learned to appreciate everything I used to take for granted. I am very grateful for this second chance. I am grateful for being able to live life again. I have learned three things through this. 1. Take care of yourself so that you can enjoy life longer. 2. Never take anything for granted because it could be gone in a flash. 3. When you have a life to live, enjoy it. Live it. Too many times we may have complained when we didnt see deer out hunting, but to enjoy that time in the woods is precious whether you see deer or not. We find ourselves happier when we find enjoyment in things than when we complain about things. Enjoy it while you can because you never know when it may be your last time. I am very grateful for this second chance to live life, because I know now that my alternative would have been being in bed for the rest of my life. I realize that taking better care of myself will give me at least a few good years to come. I will still continue that. I didnt do so well on my weight loss over the Holidays, but I will get back on track to prolonging my good years and continuing my weight loss. For all of you who prayed for me, Thank you and Happy New Year for 2015. Rodney Calmes
