George Clooneys Wedding Every bachelor has moved up one place on the most eligible list because the man at the top did what he vowed never to do. Here’s Mark Phillips. The story goes thatthe last time George Clooney got married 25 years ago, it was in Vegas and by an Elvis impersonator. That’s a hard act to follow. But Clooney and Amal Alamuddin seem to have pulled it off. For a guy who once said he’d never get married again, George Clooney did so with the kind of splash only Venice can provide. He is probably Hollywood’s most bankable leading man. She is probably the world’s most glamorous Lebanese born, Oxford-educated, London lawyer. Clooney’s publicist called this a private wedding. But, it was the kind of private wedding that would make the British royal family proud. The intent wasn’t to avoid having your picture taken, rather it was to pose, and pose, and pose again. And, if you’re meeting your pal Cindy Crawford for breakfast, why not do so on a terrace, where you can see the canal and it can see you? Or if you’re Bono, or Matt or Bill, there was no inconspicuous way to move around and apparently no desire to be inconspicuous. So what could go wrong? This. There was George all dressed up and traveling to his wedding in style down the world’s most elegant aisle, as it were. And, there was a massive ugly cruise ship blocking the way. Q5. How Is Ebola Transmitted Many people are asking how Ebola is spread and what happens in the unlikely event that they get it? Dr. Jon Lapook has some answers. The disease can be transmitted when a patients body fluids, like urine, vomit, blood, or sweat, come into direct contactwith someones broken skin or mucous membranes such as the liningof the nose, mouth, or eyes. As the Ebola virus spreads in the body, it attacks the immune system and causes massive inflammation that canlead to damage of the lining of blood cells and organ failure. Ebola is not spread through the air. The CDC saysthere is high risk for exposure when someone has contact with blood or body fluids without appropriatepersonal protective gear. Low-risk exposure includes someone in the same household with a patient or someone who is closer than three feet to the patient for a prolonged period and not wearing protective clothing. Shaking hands without protection is considered a low-risk exposure. The CDC says someone who walks by a patients room is not at risk. Doctor, you said in your story that a person within three feet might be able to contract the virus. How would that happen? Well, theyre still considered low risk but theoretically you could spit on somebody who is so close and it can get in your mouth and your nose and your eyes. But it is not spread through the air. The CDC keeps saying that. And if it were, like the flu, there would be tens of millions of people who have it because every year, in the United States, tens of millions of people get the flu. Does the virus linger on things like door handles? Well, very little information on that. But its interesting that in… in 2000 there was an outbreak of Ebola in Uganda. And they actually studied that and reassuring is the fact that of 33 samples -- and this was from beds and tables and furniture, things like that, mattresses, -- there was no virus except on two samples and those were things with obvious blood.
