2015 - Movie # 1 Big Eyes Big Eyes is the story of Artist Keane whos pictures of children with large eyes were a kitschy piece of art found in lemon yellow linoleum kitchens or that creepy picture hanging on the wall of the barber shop in the early 1970s. The great Amy Adams plays the painter who actually paints all the pictures her husband played by two time Oscar winner Christopher Waltz plays her hustler/ used car salesman husband who sells all the art. The only problem is he tells the Mike Douglas Show and anyone else who listens that he is the painter. Adams whom I really like plays the same beat most of the movie - ..Im really upset about this arrangement but too meek to make a fuss, I will just be on the verge of crying and have another drink. She is good in this movie but not Oscar worthy. Waltz maybe this generations Christopher Walken, with his quirky demeanor and absolute original accent and inflection on each and every adjective he speaks. He is perfectly cast in this role and you have as much fun watching him in Big Eyes as it looks like he is having making it. The best part of the movie though is Director Tim Burton. Not shot in the dark or shadows - no stupid one-armed mustachioed Johnny Depp character, no Gothed-out Helen Botham Carter playing a Gypsy or something. This movie is still quirky - but its bright and sunny ( I loved the shots of early 60s San Francisco with the beautiful blue sky) and light and airy. Burton shows his skills as a Director here and because the craziest stories are the true ones he is able to have some fun here and turn the lights on so everyone can see. Light and fun but not quite 20/20 vision - Big Eyes winks its way to 3 stars out of four. Big Eyes - 3 stars Big Eyes Official Trailer #1 (2014) - Tim Burton, Amy Adams Movie HD youtube
