2015: Arise Oh Nasarawa A broken state like ours has no future - TopicsExpress

2015: Arise Oh Nasarawa A broken state like ours has no future for anybody. It requires all hands on desk to rebuild it. In the task of rebuilding, sentiments have no place but sincerity of purpose. We must look beyond unproductive sentiments of religion, birthplace, ethnicity, geopolitical zones and all such considerations that divide our ranks, aggravate rancor and terminate in failure. We must choose the best hands to lead us in our quest to rebuild our already broken state. Opinions may differ but our CAUSE must be steady. The past 15 years of democracy have great lessons for all of us to know as in football matches if necessary changes are necessary in the field of play to avoid defeat and ensure victory. In so doing names do not count if it be Wanche, Adeka, Agidi, Shammah, Shekwolo, Ado, Ovye, Sudar, Abubakar, David or whatever. What counts is TESTEd ability to deliver a cause. Our political discourse on the present and future of our broken state has been so polarised along unproductive lines of sentiments that we clearly have lost focus on our cause. This is a terrible disservice to our generation and posterity. We must rethink as a people of one state and reconstruct our discussions politically if we must achieve our cause. In our debates on the best hands of leadership we must break away from unprofitable traditions of sentimental criteria that have remained constant factors in our failures so far. A few may be on the benefit side of our common-wealth so far but the the truth is that Nasarawa from the north, south and west is richly blessed with human and natural resources that if properly deployed and managed every citizen shall be happy. We must not remain in denial that all is well with our state. Facts on ground prove otherwise. Neither can we remain in denial that doing the same thing all the time shall produce a different result. Life itself is dynamic. It never remains stagnant. Constantly evolving from one form to another. We are better off when our state moves upwards the ladder of progress than downwards. Unfortunately our collective experience is a downward movement in which we constantly find ourselves. Barely 4 years ago unemployment was about 5% but today even with the so called CHANGE of 2011, unempolyment and under-employment are over 50%. Local industries are closing down, government employments are overstretched and corruption is highly tolerated. Much available manpower waste away in villages and overpopulated towns and our priceless peaceful co-existence is been traded often for political and economic gains. The state depends totally on revenues from crude oil. This in itself is a great state security risk. Diversification of our economy in an environment of security and zero tolerance to corruption is an unarguable imperative for recovery and development. Nigerians, 2015 presents us another opportunity to set our political priorities right. We cannot afford to squander another God given opportunity. God bless Nasarawa
