That is why we are here. - Buhari The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is soon to suffer another major casualty, as leaders of the new Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) met Friday in Yola, Adamawa state capital as part of efforts by the two groups to merge ahead of the 2015 general elections. The APC chieftains including former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and ex-head of state, Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), Bisi Akande ,said they were in the state to hold consultations with Nyako and his teeming supporters on the way forward. A parley held at the banquet hall of the Government House, Yola, former Head of State Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), Bisi Akande including former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu said that they were on a recruitment mission to the state, adding that the mission to the state was to salvage the country from its present state of decay and mal-adminsitartion owning to infrastructural and social decay. I can assure you that in APC, internal democracy will be enshrined. Please let not make mistake. The time has ripe for change. Our discussions with other governors are very fruitful ahead of the proposed merger,’’ Bisi Akande said. Speaking, in the same vein, General Buhari rekindled Akande’s statement on their mission to Yola which is to persuade Nyako to join APC. “All what we are trying to do is to get this country out of the current mess. In our bid to do that Adamawa state must join us to deliver this country; that is why we are here. We need peace and prosperity in this country”, he said. Responding, Governor Nyako who earlier said he is still in PDP but would always identify with like minds for the progress of the country reiterated that , “What we are doing today is not politics but showing concern for our future. The fact that Buhari is here physically with other bigwigs portends hope; that leaders from various divides are meeting here gives Nigeria the hope that we are uniting for the good of the country”. The APC National Vice Chairman North East, Alh. Umar Duhu had disclosed that the talk is at the instance of the APC to ‘’ woo prospective members into its fold. Duhu declared that, with G7 governors into their fold, the party will not only send PDP to its early grave but teach them a bitter political lesson that will mark the end of PDP rule in Nigeria, and saying that the APC was expecting the aggrieved PDP governors in their fold any moment from now. “We are so glad with the coming of aggrieved PDP governors into our fold because it will boost the chances of our party in 2015 and facilitate the final burial of the PDP by sending the party to its early grave and teach them a better political lesson.’’
