2015 elections: the temple are becoming higher, politicians are defecting, journalists are writing and Nigerians are reading.. I wasinvited to a church long long ago by a friend, the church was celebrating her annual harvest and when it came to the segment ofpresentation a young lady, who just graduated from FUTO was given the opportunity grabbed the microphone, she was talking aboutthe way the we were being governed. She spoke about the selfishness of our leaders, their zeal to make Nigerians to live in theirsiege forever, their tricks to gain and remain in power without giving a single dime about the welfare of the populace, and therest...I listened intently with rapt attention, even more than I did when the clergyman was pouring blessings on his congregation.Id idnt need a soothsayer to tell me that this girl was gifted, not only gifted but had but also, her passion Burns for this country....for the betterment of all. But as she continued, I heard her say something, something that still puzzle in my mind up to this verymoment, it was a question, a question I am yet to find an answer to. And today, I am going to pose that same question to you mydear reader are we just going to sit down watch and wait for the Messiah? Many have died waiting and more will die while waitinguntil we make and turn ourselves into our desired Messiah I have crossed 20,yet to clock 25, a normal Nigerian guy, hustler, I soakgarri, at times I offer the course trekology in the evenings from bay bridge to sanni abacha expressway, to cut it short am anormal Nigerian youth... but wait a minute, who is a normal Nigerian? 1. A normal Nigerian believes that true governance is a fairytale. 2. A normal Nigerian is OK with any policy provided it is not going to remove the crumbs from his table. 3. Normal Nigerianbelieves that as far you are holding any political office, steal, pen rob, amass wealth because if you dont, you are abnormal. 4. Anormal Nigerian puts his bank account first, his religion second, his region third, and his country last. If you dont, you are anabnormal Nigerian. 5. A normal Nigerian loves his life, he doesnt want to loose it, so he always folds his hands even when things aregoing wrong. He is afraid of loosing his life... a life he is very sure of loosing someday. 6. A Nigerian is quickly infested with theCVD (corruption virus disease) immediately he assumes power. 7. A Nigerian doesnt learn from the past and he doesnt draw fromthe future so he keeps parading the broomism and umbrellaism rather than Mandelaism and Nelsonism. 8. A normal Nigerian would diefor either the umbrella or broom rather than the green white green flag. 9. A Nigerian prefers four cups of rice, three onions andtwo hundred Naira to the comfort of his future, his childrens future and the future of his country. 10. To a normal Nigerian, yourworkshop is where you shop. If you dont shop you are a fool. A friend called me about a week ago or so, informing me about theformer NLC leader, he is popularly known as comrade in EDO state, about his interest in the presidency. I jumped to my feet inhappiness hope at last I said to myself, at least I was someone more ruthless, more rugged, someone who may not address all butsome of the men these challenges that has made Nigerians live like captives for the past fifty years. But my hope was shatteredwhen the governor openly came denied the claim. He is not converting for president... although people are pressurizing him to doso. I kept on asking myself, out of the 170 million Nigerians, is there no single soul who change things? Who is tired of waiting?Who doesnt want to die while waiting? Are we sure, do we believe, can we attest to it that the CVD is more viable compared to truepatriotism? Who is a patriot? A patriot is not a president, a governor or any of the aspirants.. a patriot is that man that put hiscountry first, his country next and his country last. A patriot is that man that has know that his only reason to live is to liberatehis people from the shackles, the shackles imposed by the same people who are supposed to destroy the shackles. So I wasntsurprised when Prof Wole, Femi Kuti and the rest rejected the so-called Notional Awards... if they should collect it, will there beanything like stable electricity? Good schools and roads? Will there be jobs for the youths? will the missing 20b dollars be restored, will I sit next to a senators daughter in the same taxi, classroom, will the gap between the rich and the poor be bridged? Will theinsecurity in the northeast he halted? Will those innocent children whose parents were massacred be taken care of? Will it stopcontract jobs, enslavement of workers and under payment of those that are lucky enough to get job? If no then why should apatriot give or take such award? We have got so many things to do rather than just throwing awards to people..Capitalizing on thetransformation agenda that doesnt change the common man is simply a waste of time, let the doctor heal himself before healing theland. He didnt just bag a PhD for nothing, let us see the change,he should be the vaccine rather than being a venom. And theyouths, keeps wasting their life fighting for these thieves, it is either they are against the broom or umbrella, forgetting that wehave lost enough. Our lives are no longer ours. It was stolen the day we gave them our vote, the day we foolishly gave them ourthumb print. Whether we vote for apc or pdp, as far as its the general or the doctor.... nothing will change do you know why? Cosnobody gives a dime about your.welfare and if you dont like the way things are... change it and let the I cant mentality leaveyou... I tell you a thousand times... you can. They have abused us for too long, the youths of A country right here in Africa arecurrently carrying out heavy protest, asking their president to resign after all the presidential sit is not a birthright unlikeNigeria. We need to liberate ourselves, we need to build the dream school, build the dream hospital, the good roads, create the jobschange things. We have to stop the strike,we have to take things to a higher level and the right time is now. Now and now becauseour life is burning, like the candle. Irrespective of our political social and religious differences, let us heal the land. Our leadershave failed us, should we also fail ourselves? While I was typing this message I overheard sirens not too far from me, I raised myhead and saw the convoy of the governor of a state... I counted about fifteen hilux vans. Before the Lexus Jeeps that followed....and the taxpayers followed from far behind in KEKE for fear of being bullied by the heavily sophisticated convoy that escorted thegovernor.... we need change, in the states, you can walk into the white house at your WISH, we need same here, Nigeria belong toNigerians.... let the youths arise... or are we going to sit down and wait for the Messiah, many have died waiting..do you wantto die while waiting? Please share to youth forums.originally written by owini Alexander ... we need sensitization,we need change,we us, we need a patriot and that patriot is you. We have to hijack power.... because to me Nigerians are currently living incaptivity and we need a prison break. We need you.,....
