2016 Easter Rising Commemoration Committee On 24th of April - TopicsExpress

2016 Easter Rising Commemoration Committee On 24th of April 1916, in a bold and brave initiative, many shades of Irish Republicanism,Nationalism and Socialism, from all parts of Ireland came together to take on the might of the British empire in what became known as The Easter Rising, and the rest is now history and defines how us Irish Republicans and Socialists continue our struggle for National liberation. Throughout Irish history there have been schisms within the freedom struggle, however the one thing that unites us all is the need to commemorate our fallen (and rightly so). Throughout the decades we have all commemorated with our friends and comrades, but all at different times and indeed different days. No matter how its done, its right to do so. In recent years there have been many voicing an opinion that there is a need for all of us to come together for one, Mass commemoration. As 2016 approaches we in the 2016 Easter Rising Commemoration Committee are proposing that, at Easter time all groups carry on with their own annual commemoration, however on the 24th April 2016 we plan for a coming together of all Irish Republicans and Socialists,as well as , Sporting and cultural organisations, for the centenary march on the Falls road, the route will be from Hamill Street to the Co Antrim plot in Miltown, where, we will assemble and in a dignified and non party way pay our respects to those who have shown the way. It is our hope, and we believe the wish of the majority of people that we can all mark this important event with pride, respect and that it should be all encompassing. We know that many will want to travel to our capital on the day, however there are many more who will not be able to or who dont feel that Dublin is the place to be. We hope that this event in Belfast can provide for an alternative National commemoration and that people from all parts of Ireland and its diaspora will join with us. The committee have been and will continue to work with everyone to encourage all to take an active role in the day make the 24th of April 2016 a day that will in its self be remembered in years to come. We are also working on other ideas for events in West Belfast in the lead up to the 24th, and we encourage others to get involved in organising, things like the errection of street bunting, the distribution and errection of Tricolours on each and every home and on our side we will be on hand to offer any assistance we can to such people. We in the 2016 commemoration committee will be meeting on a regular basis and our door is open, and will remain so, we will be giving regular updates through the press, we will also be sending invitations to as many organisations as possible to invite and encourage them to be involved.
