2075 cats were rescued by private rescues or the spca - at the average adoption rate of $175.00 that is $363,125.00 but the City of Hamilton does not see this as viable (these are stats til Dec 14) 626 cats were killed. They are spending money to vaccinate and give minimal vet care, I am sure that the adoption fees would certainly offset those expenses, and cover some of the food costs as well. People would also be willing to donate time and dollars to them if animals were actually being cared for. Every other city in the GTA who has an Animal Services is adopting out animals.
