Lal came first in the Junior Mens Cross Country Championship with a time of 29 minutes and 22 seconds. Another Fijian athlete, Ravnil Kumar came second in the same event with a time of 31 minutes, 11 seconds. Athletes from all over the Pacific competed in the Oceania Cross Country Championships in Guam.
