21, October 1774 (Friday) Cambridge, Massachusetts The Provincial Congress among other affairs will discuss a day of Fasting and Prayer for the province. A motion entered on the floor to consider sending an agent to the government in Canada to open friendly correspondence with Massachusetts. A newspaper posting is resolved to indicate there are some in Boston who have received the Kings commission, which is against the Charter and constitution of Massachusetts. They are disgraceful individuals and their detestable conduct is against the security of the province. It is resolved that those who continue to hold the Kings commissions after 10 days of the published post, will be considered enemies of the people. For those whom reject the Kings commissions, the people are to forgive them of their transgressions against the liberties of the people and not molest them for their past misdeeds. Page 2 A committee is appointed to obtain a list of those holding the Kings commissions and be ready to publish those that refuse to obey the Resolve. A committee is assigned to report on those that continue to import British Tea from India. Afternoon There are several newspapers on-hand that need to be read and monitored for articles against the liberties of the people. A committee is assigned to the task. The poor and destitute of Boston are a concern and possible relief is considered. It is resolved that Congress shall inform the people that all consumption of Tea is placing the right and liberties of the people in jeopardy. Each community should appoint a committee to watch over the people to quell the usage of Tea. The committee on the defence and safety of the province read their report and it was tabled until tomorrow.
