21-day Gratitude Challenge Day 4: What Inconvenience Are You - TopicsExpress

21-day Gratitude Challenge Day 4: What Inconvenience Are You Grateful For? In 2001, mine was among those lost telecom jobs. Initially, I had some money saved and was looking forward to a break. Three months later, still no replacement job. This was new, guess the break will be a bit longer, and concern began to set it. Six months in, still no job and even the head hunters have stopped calling as this thing is much larger than me. Ok, time to begin stressing. I began seeking work outside of my field, and being turned down as over-qualified. Twelve months in, I began omitting my work experience and college and still nothing. At fourteen months, savings gone and debt run up, I went to truck driving school because at least there were jobs. For the next three years I drove. If you dont know a truck driver, let me tell you, they are severely under appreciated. That is hard work, for small pay, and since no one wants to get stuck behind a slow truck you wouldnt believe the things idiots do in front of that eighty-thousand pounds. Considering that cars weigh approximately one ton, that truck is roughly the equivalent of forty cars. If youve been stupid in front of a truck, youve now been warned -- you cant win. Anyway, God got to work on me in that truck. Now I wasnt what Id consider super awful before, but He wanted more. Its said that He lays some people on their back so theres no where to look but up. Thats what He did to me, and brother He got my attention. I can never really recover from the financial impact of that time, but I am significantly improved by the experience, and looking back grateful that He cared enough to seek me out, cook me in His pressure cooker, and bring me back.
