21 year old Tom McEwen Eventing has a very busy few weeks ahead; at the end of August he heads to Sweden with Diesel to represent the senior GB #Eventing team at the FEI European Championships, before heading to Burghley with ex racehorse Dry Old Party. I caught up with him after Gatcombe to see how he felt both horses performed ahead of their bit entries. Tom told me; "Dry Old Party felt absolutely brilliant and ran as well as ever. Its amazing that on such a fast horse he only got 6 time penalties even though i was just going for a nice run round. Fingers crossed for Burghley. "It was fantastic to be back on Diesel to go round a bigger track and he performed brilliantly. I lost a shoe very early on, as before that i was moving on a bit more, and with the terrain of Gatcombe i just took him very slowly down the hills as it was slippery with studs in. He popped round the track which was a brilliant course to jump round before Malmo."
