21 year old female found shot to death in armed home robbery in Washington, Indiana. It is by the grace of God that this is not the front page headline of the news today. The back door of my home was kicked in by an armed robber this weekend. I had just left 5 minutes prior and my boyfriend had arrived home a few minutes after I had left. He heard the door being kicked in and grabbed his handgun and went to check it out. He found a black male at the back door with a gun pointed at him. He told the man to drop his gun then he fired his gun at the man and the man then ran off. I returned home after a short run to McDonalds, that may have saved my life, to find every police officer in town at my house. I want to mind you I live in one of the safest areas of our town Sugarland Road. I love my hometown of Washington . There is no other place Id rather live. My ancestors have lived in Daviess County for well over 200 years. Im proud to be from here. I love the slow place, the corn growing up in rows, the gravel roads, the community of people, and the sense of safety and security that comes along with our Mayberry like town . But I am here to tell you that the community that I know and love is being threatened the once happy go lucky spirit will be gone. I love this town and could not think of any better place to raise my future children until Saturday night and all of that has changed. A certain company in our has taken the liberty of bring in people from third world nations that do not have the same way of life as us here in Washington. Theyre from a place that crime is a way of life, women have no value to them, another human beings life has little or no value to them. If they see something they want they will take it and do want they want. I know that one of the nationalities of people being brought into our community for employment is Haitian. I have done some research on the crime in Haiti. Here is a paragraph from the United States Department of State Bureau of Diplomatic Security: “The most frequently reported crimes against Americans in Port-au-Prince are aggravated assaults, kidnappings, and robberies. Home invasions also remain an item of concern in some parts of Port-au-Prince. Crimes against persons, including gender-based violence, remain a serious problem. Haitians still lack basic policing services, so many residents do not report assaults, rape, and other crime because of lingering -- and too-often justified -- perceptions of police apathy, incompetence, and corruption. Traditional tourist-oriented crimes, such as pickpocketing and purse snatching, are less frequently reported in Haiti.” I have traveled to many 3rd world countries and have seen this first hand. They do not have the same values or way of civil life that we have in America. The average home has a 10 ft fence and gate and an armed guard at the gate at all times. These individuals are being brought into our community without the proper education or upbringing that you can not do as you please and be involved in criminal activity. Our community does not have the proper resources to handle this increase of criminals and criminal activity. The very livelihood of our town is being threated all for a companys profit, so they can have the cheapest laborers and profit more money. I feel as though my natural born rights as an American of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are being sold out right out from under me all for a companys profit without absolutely no regard for our community and its citizens. When are we going to speak up about this issue and fight for our community? Will it be after I am found dead in my home at the hand of an armed robber? And for anyone who thinks that that I am racist. I am here to tell you I am the farthest thing from it. My sisters are adopted from China, many of my relatives and my boyfriends relatives who we love dearly are of African American descent. I have traveled to Africa and Latin America on mission trips. It is not an issue of race but an issue of upbringing and criminal culture that is being brought into our community all for a companys profit. We are not a big city. Our police force and the citizens of this town are not prepared or equipped to handle an increase in criminal activity. We already had a drug problem and crime that came along with that and its about to be increased ten fold with the culture that is bring a brought into our community.
