21 years ago today, well, I guess the band hadnt even formed yet, much less learned how to play, but thats another story... 21 years ago today, I got off the plane in Los Angeles, with no clue what to expect. I had not even seen a picture of Sarah, and here I was, getting ready to meet the person I had already come to believe was the one. I had my box of roses I was clinging to for dear life. When I saw her, it was a moment of do I turn and hide? Then we made eye contact and the rest is literally history, I suppose. By the end of the weekend, we both knew, but thought it would be a good idea for me to visit a few more times, and for her to come to Salt Lake and see what she thought. I was NOT there for the Burbank/Glendale quakes, but I got there as soon as I could. We stressed over whether I should go to CA or she should come to SL. In the end, the family ties brought her here. And... in hind sight, maybe I should have gone to CA. Nonetheless, we had 20 years of the best of times and the worst of times. We loved and we maybe didnt at times. But if I can say I have goodness in me, its in large part from watching and learning from her. In spite of the bad times, she was the kindest and most loving and thoughtful person Ive ever known. We considered Thanksgiving our anniversary much more than we did our wedding day. (Thanks in part to Mr. Unromantic here) Every thanksgiving Sarah would get extremely stressed over the cranberry kugel - a jewish dish that required peeling and cutting a bunch of apples. We always did that one together. The last one we did, on Passover of this year, she cried and said it was something she always looked forward to - because it was one of the things that we always did together, and this year she wasnt able to do as much. So, theres a kugel in the oven tonight, Sarah. And love in my heart. I miss you.
