2272 – Not Accepting Christ Posted by Steve McCracken on 21 Sep 2014 03:00 am. Good morning people who accept the free gift of God through Jesus Christ 1 Corinthians 9:27 (NIV) No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. On the foundation of yesterday’s BIY, here is the first of two things I want to look at. Not accepting God’s Son will disqualify us from receiving the Prize. 1 John 5:12 (NIV) Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. If people do not accept God’s Son and come to the Father through Him, they have by their own choice disqualified themselves from the Prize. Now I want to say two things here: Firstly, God doesn’t predestine certain people to not accept Him. In other words, He does not create some people with the intention that they die as sinners destined to hell. If this is your theology, I lovingly yet boldly disagree with you. Foreknowledge comes before predestination, and predestination is to do with ‘being conformed to the image of God’s Son after we accept Christ’ not ‘who will receive Christ’. Here’s an important scripture to understand here: 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV) The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. Secondly, if a person is still alive, they can still make a decision to accept Christ. It’s not too late until we draw our last breath. That said, people have no guarantee of another breath, so now is the best time for people to accept Christ. But don’t ever look at certain people who judge a behaviour as ‘unforgivable” – God is looking for every person to return to Him.
