23rd September 20:30 Sidmouth Lifeboat was tasked by Portland Coastguard following reports of a yacht adrift very close to Sidmouth Beach and not responding to calls on VHF radio. Once alongside the casualty vessel the Skipper stated that they did not require assistance and were waiting for low tide in order to come ashore. Sidmouth Lifeboat Coxswain explained that they would not be able to get ashore at low tide and suggested that it may be more prudent to return to Exmouth. The Skipper of the vessel declined any assistance, and instead continued down the coast in an Easterly direction
