24 years after the Americans with Disabilities Act became Federal law in the US, there are STILL businesses who refuse to comply with it. I tried to go out to breakfast this morning at the New Day Cafe, and was told that I could not bring my balance and mobility service dog in the restaurant. Its utterly ridiculous that these kinds of service denials are still happening in violation of both Federal and Florida law. If you live in the Melbourne, Florida area, instead of going to New Day Cafe, you might want to patronize some of the other small, local restaurants who DO comply with the law, like Matts Casbah, Yiannis Deli, and the Harbor City Diner. Heres a quick legal refresher for all of those business owners out there who still think it is okay to deny access to the disabled: ada.gov/service_animals_2010.htm
