Please please take the time to read my post below: Everyone may have seen in the news lately about a local care home being shut down because of the way it treated the patients. Unfortunately one of these patients is my nan who was at one of the homes which has been shut down (owned by the same person who appears to only in it for the money due to poorly trained staff, poorly maintained and appalling hygiene) and it has hit me harder than I thought it would. My mum sat me down last night and told me that my nan has a couple of weeks left to live because of their gross negligence and poor infection control. They didnt even report a fall she had which resulted in her face being black and blue and 12 stitches in her head! Having to accept that she is now in her last weeks is hard enough, but knowing that should she have had received the appropriate care, we wouldnt be in this position just makes it even harder. My family are going to begin the legal battle today, as well contacting our MP, various commissions, secretary of health, NHS, Surrey County Council, Minister of state for care and support, parliamentary under secretary of state for health, parliamentary under secretary of state for public health, age concern and newspapers, to ensure that the remaining care homes operating under a particular person (cannot name for legal reasons) is brought to justice for the gross negligent manslaughter with regards to my nan, and also to ensure that the remaining care homes are shut down! They should not be allowed to still be in operation! It is too late for my nan but out of this myself and my family want to ensure it does not happen to anyone else! I thought about sharing some pictures of her but thought they may be too graphic and upsetting for some people. Please can everyone like this status and share it if you agree that more needs to be done to regulate our care homes to prevent harm to the elderly. If you also have in mind anyone else we can contact then please let me know. I want to take the number of likes I get to the meetings coming up to demonstrate that this needs to be taken seriously, and therefore use this status as a form of petition. Things have gone too far now as my nan is going to loose her life. Nan I am so so sorry that this has happened to you and if I could take the pain away I would. The one thing I will make sure happens is that the people who did this are brought to justice. Thank you for being the best nan I could ever ask for. In a way I am glad that I have some time left with you so I can be with you over the next week or so. Thank you for making sure that I had the best childhood possible and for making my mum such a brilliant mum to me Linda Cackett. At least you can be with Grandad now and I know he is looking forward to seeing you. Your saying Im not just a pretty face is something I will always remember. You will always be in my heart. Please please can everyone like this status and share it so more and more people become increasingly aware. On behalf of my entire family, we really appreciate you taking the time to read this post.
