26/11/14 Subject: Plans to build an Asylum Seeker / Refugee Camp within Residential Area of Glasgow All Thanks for attending tonights meeting. Only by working as a unit do we stand a chance of success. If I have missed anyone please forward it on them. As promised, I have included the details on how to access the site. Once in and you have registered leave your comment. I have included an example. It must be a constructive objection and not one solely affects you. It has to be around the lack of infrastructure, the building being unfit for purpose, lack of appropriate amenities e.g. a place to worship. The following has to be done before Friday but the earlier the better. Follow these instructions to register comment on the Planning site web site. 1. Via the internet (follow these steps, the web address on the small piece of paper put through the door does not work) 2. Go to google.co.uk a. Type in public access Glasgow Click on Simple Search Under Enter a keyword, reference number, postcode or single line of an address. Type in 419 Balmore Road and click search Click on: Use of former office building as short stay accommodation (Sui Generis); including ancillary offices, plus associated external alterations and landscaping works. It will then display a full list of the details of the application In order to make a comment you will have to set up an Account (very easy to do). This involves completing your name, address, email address etc you will be asked to create a password. Once you have completed that click on Submit. An email will then be sent to you asking to complete registration. (Point to note – If you are objecting to the facility, when completing the comments there are a choice of three buttons (against, not against or neutral). It defaults to ‘neutral’ so PLEASE ensure you click on ‘Against’) I suggest using something like this: I strongly object with the proposal to utilise the site at 419 Balmore Road to house asylum seekers / refugees as there is a complete lack of resources in place to support these vulnerable asylum seekers. They are being dumped into a site that is not fit for purpose, into a community that has no means or knowledge of supporting them. I feel that Serco and its partners are using human suffering for profit i.e. providing accommodation for people unable to help themselves and using their suffering to maximise profits for them and their shareholders. Serco and their partners won the contract and were paid a considerable sum of taxpayers money to house asylum seekers / refugees in suitable accommodation. 419 Balmore is far from suitable both from a community and an asylum seekers / refugees point of view. OR Something in relation to:- Live in industrial site; vehicles and Balmore Road traffic; can local services support this accommodation; not enough play room; lack of windows in some flats; children are not at school; built minimum size of rooms; concerned about the number of people living there; Placing vulnerable people, children and families in deprived area with limited resources; density of it too high for older people; Security and facing vulnerable older peoples sheltered accommodation and elderly people in the area. In addition, email the people below with the same concerns every day until this is resolved.
