26 years ago today Jesus gave me the most beautiful woman in the world. Shelly Drage to love, cherish and share the rest of my days on earth with. Some would say marriage between one man & one woman is not relevant today. Some would even say that marriage is dying. Well I am proud to say that I agree wholeheartedly! It is only when we die to our own self that we can begin to understand that true love in a marriage relationship is worth dying for. And with only 26 years of conviction I can with confidence conclude that marriage works best between three people – 1 x man, 1 x Jesus & 1 x woman. With Jesus in the centre He taught us how to love, when we argue, He teaches us how we can forgive, when we are stressed He gives us peace, when we face trials He gives us joy, when we don’t know what to do He gives us wisdom, when we have kids He gives us patience, When we tithe He gives us provision and when it all seems just too hard He gives us hope. He made us perfectly for each other’s pleasure & intimacy and for no other. The world would have us believe that marriages naturally breakdown, fail, that It’s OK to just move on and get a new one. Show me a failed marriage & there you’ll see a marriage without Jesus! If you discovered the world’s richest coal deposit in a field, would you not go and sell all you had and buy that field? What is my wife worth? I love her more than coal and I know that I can only truly love and cherish her the way she deserves, because Jesus is training me.
