27 things about me, because McCoy Barbara said so... Like the list and Ill give you a random number... 1. I have a strong mistrust of anyone who says they dont like music... I mean really, how can you not like some kind of music 2. They say office romances always end badly, and yet 17 years later Im still married to the awesomest woman I know and we met at work. Okay, it was a restaurant and not an office, but still. And really, it was a Friendlys and those barely count as restaurants. 3. As a general rule, if it has no real world value I will remember it. Im a trivia master. However, if its something important, say like my own phone number or someones birthday I am guaranteed to forget it. 4. Ive now written two books that will never see publication. One is for Mythical Journeys, the other is for Tang Soo Do. 5. On the subject of TSD and Mythical Journeys - with the exception of both, I have a bad habit of getting addicted to a new hobby, spending an insane amount of money to get started on it, and then losing interest once Ive got an understanding of the basics and some advanced techniques. 6. Robert Heinleins Stranger in a Strange Land, Hickman and Weis Dragonlance Trilogy, Douglas Adams The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange were the books that defined my high school years. 7. On the hollywood side of things Pump Up The Volume. 8. Almost all of my friends have had some sort of amazing real life adventures or have jobs that are incredible. I have problems understanding why they befriended someone with an amazingly humdrum life like myself. Well, okay that isnt entirely true. Teaching little ones karate is pretty amazing... 9. Back to the karate again, because its a huge part of life right now. I write a blog called Tipping the Vessel - its all about my journey to black belt. The name was taken from an ancient Doctor Demento show song called Tae Kwon Leap/Boot to the Head by The Frantics. 10. Though she is completely blind to it, I still think my wife is the most beautiful woman in the world. 11. I usually avoid doing social network crap like this. Id love to be able to say because its that I dont care what anyone thinks about me, but itd be more honest to say that Im wondering how many people just want me to shut up already. 12. I cringe when people give me compliments. Ive learned to force the smile and say thank you, but Im wondering if its meant or if youre just being overly kind out of charity. 13. I have a low tolerance for stupid. Nothing pisses me off quicker. Except for maybe one of the students being disrespectful to a teacher. Though one could argue that is a breed of stupid. 14. Im not sure what scares me more... the physical phase or the written/oral phase of black belt testing. 15. I am decidedly giddy about our trip to Disney in 82 days. Ive never been. The only downer about it is that Joe wont be able to join us as originally planned. 16. Im painfully addicted to comic book based movies and tv shows. Thankfully, Marcy is too. 17. My favorite quote about religion was delivered by Maggie Smith in Downtown Abbey My Dear, Religion is like a Penis. Its a perfectly fine thing for one to have and take pride in, but when one takes it out and waves it in my face we have a problem! Which makes me grateful that some of the most spiritual/religious people I know find ways of getting their beliefs across without making it feel like theyre trying to bash my head in with a bible. 18. On that note, while we may disagree on the divinity of Jesus, I will agree that he was an amazing teacher and his teachings were sound. 19. I am not an atheist, or even an agnostic. I do believe in a higher power and the divine. Im just not sure what to call it, how define it, or if it even needs a name and definition. 20. Last one on this bent. I have read the bible cover to cover a couple of times, and it scares me how many people take it literally. Or worse those who crop out certain sections to make arguments for or against something. 21. Im convinced that we need to create an 8th day and add at least 2 hours to every day at a bare minimum. There is never enough time for everything and I feel guilty when I cant do everything. 22. If I ever came into an obscene amount of money there are 3 things I would do. First, buy a plot of land and build a new house. Second, make sure Marcys ministry had everything it needed to flourish and get off the ground. The third would be to set up some kind of school. 23. I lied. More than 3 things. Id go back to school part time - not for a degree but just to learn things. Id also make sure that my kids would have every opportunity open to them that they wanted. Also buy land to build a permanent LARP camp complete with underground tunnels and crazy storage space. 24. Ive slowly overcome my dread of being the center of attention. Or maybe its more of a Ive learned how to pretend theres no one watching. 25. If I could change one aspect of my life it would be my day job. I get no satisfaction from it, the pay is a joke, and I feel like I could be doing something more. 26. I am an introvert. Almost every detail of every facebook post about introverts applies to me. That is all. 27. The only thing more gratifying than finally owning a new form is time spent doing just about anything with my wife. Damn, that went on way too long. I promise not to give anyone a number higher than 15...
