27th Feb, 1996, it was India vs Australia at the Wankhede stadium in a World Cup match. India was chasing 258, a big score in those times, and there was this one short man (rather a boy), unknown to me at that time who was just hitting all the bowlers all over the park. I was watching the game with my Mom and I asked her who this player is, she answered its Sachin, Sachin Tendulkar. That was the 1st memory that I have of The Master, and that is also the reason why I started playing cricket, started following cricket and fell madly in love with the game. For every match that India played after that, the only reason to watch was because of Sachin. Sachin kitne pe hai?, Sachin khel raha hai kya?, Saala 80 pe khel raha hai, century maarega kya? Abe Sachin ka century hua kya?...these are the most commom questions that you would ask to the chaiwallahs, Vada Pav wallahs or anyone whom you would spot carrying a radio, and if you tend to spot a TV showroom, you would leave everything aside and join 100s of people in watching this one super human hitting 4s and 6s, and feel as if you are taking on the world through this man. Every 4 and a 6 from his bat would give you a sense of joy, pride and enjoyment that just cannot be explained. You would want to rush home leaving everything aside, just to watch him play. Somewhere in between Sachins boyhood and manhood, the whole of India grew up. Sachin was not just a cricketer to me and millions of others, he was the reason for our happiness, he would give us hope, he was the one who would make miracles happen. Whenever there was down moment in life, we all knew that we are just one Tendulkar innings away from being back to our best. We all grew up, wanting only be Sachin Tendulkar, and nobody else. I am sure , all of us have bought an MRF bat, have tried that famous adjustment of his abdomen guard, have tried that heavy bottom hand grip and have persuaded our moms to buy boost, just cz we would get a tennis ball signed by Sachin. People talk about Sachins stats, and even though the numbers that he has left behind are impossible to achieve, but when it comes to Sachin, it was never about numbers. Sachin is not just a cricketer, he is an emotion, an emotion that whole of India has felt for 24 years, and would have liked to feel forever and ever. From 15th Nov, 1989 to 16th Nov 2013, after 24 years and 1 day, when he finally fades away into the memory, after giving us his everything, making us cry for one last time, this time not in happiness, but in shock and sadness that India will never again wake up to see its most famous name in that team sheet and India will never again sleep in peace and happiness that its GOD has scored a century, its time to salute the master, its time to bow down to him and cherish each and every moment that he has given us. As said by Sachin himself 24 years is a long time to support on guy, and you all have done that. I am truly touched. Thank You. No sir, we Thank You for giving us all those moments of happiness, nervousness, anxiety, excitement, faith, hope and extreme joy. We would have unconditionally and proudly supported you for 24 more years and all of our life. For one last time, Thank You Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar for playing cricket in my lifetime and making my childhood wonderful. Cricket definitely can never be the same. With extremely moist eyes, have to bid adieu to you. Goodbye and take a bow master. #Sachinsachin #Legend #God #ThankyouSachin
