2day,am all alone wife 2 Taki,daut.in B`lore,wife left enough food 4 me 2 sustain 2/3 days,but what`s buggering me up most that stillness,so plenty of time 2 write an early Cal-incident of my life.Dr.B Bhattacharjee before going 2 England was with Shipping Cor. of Ind.,that was when he met mr.K g soni,chief elect. officer of a ship under S.C.I.Dr B.B,introduced Soni 2 me,so when in Cal ,he used 2 me, though he was a wealthy rich Punjabi in his mid 50`s he proably found me amieable.One Sunday morn.he came 2 my Kpd quts.& said chol cheria[beachelor in punjabi] ajj tuje ghuma le atey haias ihave nothing 2 do except cha, powroti as B.F, & low quality rice & potato 4 lunch,agreed immidiately.Joy of riding taxi ,good B.F,lunch etc, was all in mind mind.So taxi stopped at metro galli went 2 Anarkali Restn.Soni gave me rs50 4 a pack of State Express cigt.When i asked panwala 4 it he instantly atteded me proably thinking a sahab must not be kept waiting.Meanwhile Soni did some puchur puchur with a taxiwala & ghumana started.Here i shall skip details becuse some one from Ben`lor always keep a watch on my writting.So at 9`o`clock when we rtd. 2 Kpd$ was about 2 part him,Soni said avhi eitna dur jana hai,enquired kaha--Budge-Budge,casually said tow hamara pass rook jao-relived tuje koi taklif to nahni hogaTo phir tou kaha shougasaid sofa to hai.He lied down on my princely bed & myself half folded on sofa.At 5 morn.woke me up & said chol jana hai ajj ship sail korega,so 2 Majerhat bridge 2 catch a train, it was durring d journey , he asked me Bramchari tu eis bistere pe kaise shota hai.I realised few pegs of whisky was not enough 4 a sleep, that uneven wooden plank on cot was quite palpable, matress was so thin almost like a cotton blanket.Then said aur takia ka[means pillow] to batte mat kor sher raknese dono taraf ka roi [tula, cotton]vagta hai tou isme shotahai kaise.He was not in a mood 2 forget it.Anyway d sight of d ship[1st time] breath taking, climbed thro.a rope ladder& into d ship, there met with all young officer, then came a chilim & puffing started when passed 2 me, gave a long puff, otherwise they would think a dehati boy, but that puff violently shook my all organs,so when 2nd puff nearing me pretended 2 go 2 bathroom there i realised my vision getting blurred touching d mirror found it dry.eventually whistle blown 4 guest 2 leave ship.Soni came 2 see me off there saw d rope ladder almost perpendicular due 2 tide,Soni asked me if i need help,even then said no no.Sheer due 2 luck rather than efficiency, i touched ground from space.Looked back,found Soni still waving after sometime found myself in Budge Budge police stn.On searching they found my visiting card & Ballygunge Tel.ph.no,Cop asked mejdi[my elder sist.]S.Brahmachari ke chinen--O ki pagalMejdi started crying cop gave d phone 2 speak i spoke mejdi be ami bule pagal hoi gachi--Na na toi tor mejder sange kotha ko.Majda an M.D. doc.cnt be deceived so easily.aa ghe ko toi kita khaisos,replied Rossogulla er cha,eita khawaer lagi Budge Budge ghawa lageni, dey police er phone dey what transpired betw.dnt know but cop started caring me telling among themsilve boro looker chele gullawo jacche.After couple of hours Bijuda my elder bra.with Ex.serviceman B.S Ray went 2 fetch me.They gave undertaking & cops released me.
