3.5K Runners to race in 9th University Run ORGANIZERS for Sunday’s University Run 9 of the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) have more reason to celebrate and stage a race worth remembering after they hit their target of 3,500 runners. Lead organizer and running patron Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III happily announced yesterday that they have reached their target numbers of runners in the 25-kilometer, 13k, 6k and 3k categories. The 25k category will pass through the Marcelo Fernan, old Mandaue –Mactan and Cansaga bridges while the 13k will cover only the first two mentioned bridges. Larrazabal III also said that they have already coordinated with the Mandaue City and Lapu-lapu City governments with regards to security and traffic concerns in their areas covered by the race. “Everything’s ready and we are excited to stage this running event on Sunday,” said Larrazabal III. The finishers in the 13k and 25k will receive specially designed finishers medal while the top finishers in the above mentioned division will receive cash. Race proceeds will be used to finance the charity works of Larrazabal’s Run For Sight Foundation. Celebrity couple Karylle and Yael Yuzon will join this Sunday’s race.
