< 3-Jahres-STELLE: Doktoranden-Stelle zu Klimapolitik / ETH Zürich: > The Professorship of Environmental Policy and Economics at ETH Zurich and the Department of Political Science at the University of Zurich are seeking a PhD student to investigate climate change policy processes in Switzerland from a comparative perspective. PhD Position in Political Science / Climate Change Policy The 3-year PhD position will be part of the research project The Politics of Climate Change: Options for Action in a Changing International Environment funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, starting January 2014 (project leader: Christian Hirschi). The project is embedded in the international research program Comparing Climate Change Policy Networks (COMPON) (principle investigator: Jeffrey Broadbent, University of Minnesota, USA), which brings together climate policy researchers from over 15 countries who seek to find broad princi-ples to explain cross-national variations in the success at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The PhD project will be jointly supervised by Prof. Dr. Thomas Widmer, University of Zurich, and Dr. Christian Hirschi, ETH Zurich. The appointment will be at ETH Zurich. Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in political science or a related discipline. They are expected to have strong methodological skills in both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis techniques as well as a solid theoretical knowledge in the field of public policy. In addition, we expect a keen interest in political questions related to global climate change and familiarity with the Swiss political system. Candidates should have a strong command of English and a good working knowledge of German.
