3 Ways to Celebrate National Small Business Week It’s National Small Business Week! This week rolls around once a year, recognizing the contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. This year is especially remarkable, though, because it marks 50 years since the SBA started National Small Business Week in 1963. Yeah! In honor of Small Business Week 2013, here are three ways you can celebrate and get involved. 1. Participate in National Events In honor of its 50-year anniversary, the SBA is hitting the road, taking the event to a different location every day this week (Seattle, Dallas, St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Washington, DC). If you happen to live near one of these locations, you can attend and participate live. However, if you can’t get there in person, you can follow along online. The SBA website will live stream some of the speakers during the week. And make sure you follow the official hash tag of the event, #SBW2013. 2. Focus on Your Business and Conduct Research I know, I know. You’re saying, “Well, duh, I focus on my business every day!” While that may be true, I think this week is the perfect time to revisit all of those “back burner” projects you have simmering on the stove. You know exactly what I’m talking about… Your revised business plan that’s just “so close” to completion… The marketing campaign you’ve planned but haven’t pulled the trigger on yet… Or how about finally getting your office and filing system cleaned up and organized like you’ve been planning to do for weeks (months?). Take some time this week to focus on your business. Also, take the time out to conduct research to review your competition and your market. You may learn that a lot of things have changed since you started operating. 3. Become an Entrepreneur (with help) If you’ve been thinking about becoming an Entrepreneur but have yet to get started, consider taking the plunge this week. If you’re not sure where to start, consider checking out sba.gov as a resource of good information. Another resource is a Business Consultant. They provide guidance, direction, and coaching to support you doing the startup process. This will get you motivate and help you make some serious progress, too. Consulting Experts & Associates, LLC will gladly assist you in getting started or focusing on your business. Finally, peers are an excellent resource to cheer you on some support from other entrepreneur. You will be surprised at how many people will be behind you and supporting your new endeavor! Have very happy and productive National Small Business Week! The Consulting Expert Vanessa Guyton 803-381-1902
