3 big productivity wins in the past few weeks. a) Gave up caffeine cold turkey. It was a bad first 3 days, but now I have more energy than ever. No more 2pm crashes, and I get higher quality of sleep (more deep cycles as measured by my phone app). It really wasnt that bad, and experimentation is how we improve in life. Its surprising how many people wouldnt even consider my challenge - weak willpower I guess. b) No social media on my phone - I removed all the programs. I have been Facebook and twitter on my computer during daytime. But I did notice whenever I took breaks, Id immediately check my phone for new notifications. A 10 minute break could end up being 20 minutes. When Im working Id be thinking, wonder if I got any replies to my latest post. Try it out, youd be surprised at how much calmer your mind is. This is a sneak preview of next months challenge :-). c) I removed the contact form on my blog, and I wont be replying to Facebook messages anymore. Let me explain from my perspective. I get a LOT of people asking me for help and asking me questions. Sometimes Ill spend an hour+ a day just answering messages. This was manageable for me last year, but my audience has really exploded the past few months and it has become a time sink. I dont really have much free time these days. I rather write higher quality posts that can reach 20,000+ people, than help someone individually. Its about leverage. I can make more a difference if I finish my newbie guide, or if I write better posts. Most of the time when I help people, I dont even get a thank you or they dont even use my advice. If you have a question, just leave a comment on the blog so everyone can benefit. There are only 24 hours in a day - I have to pick my best leverage points. Id like to think Im a productive guy, but theres always a next level. I always make sure I am improving.
