3 killed, 40 hurt in road mishaps during Yaoshang HNS/IMPHAL, Mar 21: Three people were killed and 40 others sustained injuries in separate road related accidents during the just ended 5-day Yaoshang festival in the State. A 16-year-old pedestrian was killed after he was hit by a passenger Winger van at Leishum village under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East around 2 pm yesterday. The victim, Khumukcham Abomcha, who hailed from Takhel Mamang Leikai, succumbed to the injuries at Shija Hospitals, Langol. On March 19 at around 3 pm, a teenager died after the Pulsar motorcycle on which he was riding collided with a speeding Discover bike along Gourok Mahadev Atongching road in Thoubal district. The 19-year-old deceased was identified as Akoijam Romeo of Poiroukhongjing Laishram Leikai under Yairipok Police Station. Another pedestrian was killed in a road mishap that took place at Yourabung in Imphal East on March 18. Telem Bishwanath (25) of Pungdombam Awang Leikai was mowed down by a Pulsar motorcycle when he along with some friends was going to attend a Thabal Chongba programme. He later succumbed to his injuries at Shija Hospitals the following day. On the other hand, at least 40 people, including 20 from Imphal West alone sustained injuries in road mishaps in various parts of the State. The injured were treatment at RIMS and JNIMS here.
