3 things...10 jams that moved in 2014...a bit of commentary..clips and personal views..read or pass by..its all good were still dancing ;)... I usually find it very hard to do top 10’s…simply because I really feel there is so much new good music, old too (reissued) that comes each year for the last however many years. There may not be so many ‘classics’ as many coin the phrase of a year, unfortunate shelf life due to the wealth of music hitting racks every week or in a mailout. Or however way we are informed on record/download releases. But TBH I don’t really concern myself with such thoughts, if they got a load of play that year then they are classics of at least that year right ?.. I’m still as eager and more so in checking, digesting and keeping an open ear to whatever and however a good release can be incorporated into a set/selection of tunes for an upcoming club gig or mix show. It was all about the musical/sound journey or at least how I was initiated back whenever ;) This year there were as ever great House, Techno, Minimal, Downtempo, Balearic, Reggae, and some good pop too…to give a swift overview of how much music I was digging each month and how many records, downloads I bought and played..some months there could be 6-7 cd’s a month being recorded for the wallet I still buy but don’t play Vinyl out unless the system/set up is looked after, done basically right..like it used to be or the decks have not doubled up in life as a beer matt.. or on shaky ground…☺. Also thought this year was a great one for the remix, adding in some cases some fantastic musical life and giving producers a chance to show different sides of their reportoire…also in doing charts…it gives us – real music lovers a chance to give a mention to all the hard working creators..putting in a wealth of time in the studio for sometimes little reward £ but challenging and rocking floors in a mere 7-10-15 however long the track is…Anyways below are 10 in no particular order that out of the many that turned heads…peeps headed over to the decks…heads looked lost on the dancefloor…close eyes moment…got heads nodding..and got feet a shuffling for me whoever was there at the time…always a good sign…in no particular order.
