Daily Manna: A Spirit-Inspired Ministry TEXT: MICAH 3:1-12 KEY VERSE: “But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin” (Micah 3:8). Abraham Lincoln once said that he had no difficulty in finding men who would shed the last drop of blood for America. His difficulty was finding those who would shed the first drop. Nothing needs more of the Spirit of God than the preaching which declares to men their sins. Micah denounced the sins of the leaders, priests, prophets and all those whose responsibility was to teach the people the word of God. These were elders who were supposed to live among the people to direct and instruct them in the things of God, who had instead moved into Jerusalem for a mere political disposition. The leaders who should have known the law and taught the people accordingly had set the law aside and had become the worst of sinners. They took advantage of the very people they were supposed to serve. The leaders had no compassion or respect for those they were supposed to serve. They treated the people miserably in order to satisfy their own desires. They treated God’s people with disdain and had the effrontery to ask for God’s help when they found themselves in trouble. As it was in Micah’s day, so it is today. Men who ought to be true teachers of God’s word have become the worst culprits in distorting the word, interpreting and applying it for purely secular and pecuniary considerations. No wonder the word no longer transform life in many assemblies today. Micah remained true to his calling and proclaimed God’s word with great conviction. He attributed the power of his ministry to God’s Spirit (verse 8). The work of God cannot be done effectively through a man’s power and strength. Hence, the disciples were promised the power of the Holy Spirit to enable them do the work successfully (Acts 1:8). At whatever level a believer finds himself, God expects him to declare His word not “with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power!” Be like Micah and be true in declaring God’s word and living it out. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The righteous is as bold as a lion.
