30 Day Mompreneurs Challenge Day 19: Find a Partner Building relationships with other business owners can be a great way to get your business more exposure. Often times, business owners, moms in particular, are weary of developing relationships with other businesses because they perceive them as their competition. While this may be true, there’s no reason that you have to stay away from them. That’s a common misconception that drives me crazy. There’s absolutely no reason you can’t work together to achieve your goals. There’s enough business out there for everyone, and by supporting one another, you’re opening the door for referrals, positive word of mouth, new ideas and more help to assist you in growing your own business. Today’s task is to identify someone to build a relationship with. It can be another online business owner or someone in your own area. It can be someone whose business closely resembles yours, or, it can be a business that is different yet complementary. It can be someone you already know, someone you’ve casually encountered in your business circles, or, a complete stranger whose business you admire. Once you have a business owner in mind, its time to contact them. You’ll introduce yourself and your business, then, explain how you can both benefit from working together. Perhaps you can exchange each other’s business info to include in one another’s orders. Or, maybe you can team up to purchase and share space at a vendor event. If you do home parties, perhaps you can tackle them together. For instance, I love to see gold buying/jewelry parties. The gold buyer will come, pay the guests for their gold, then the guests can use that cash to purchase new jewelry! You can also mention that you can work together to share knowledge, educational opportunities, advertising opportunities, etc. Now, instead of one set of eyes on the ground, you’ll have two! There are so many ways you can work together to build your businesses. You can be one another’s partner in crime. Your confidence will get a boost along with your business because you’ll know you always have someone by your side that cares deeply for your business just like you do!
