30 October 2014 Update: Dear ones, it has been a whole week since out last update. Thank you for your patience, concern, and continued prayers regardless. Sometimes it seems kind of pointless to keep posting the same thing day after day because Bishop Bens condition has not been improving or worsening so there is not much to report. All last week the medical team worked hard to fight Bishop Bens several infections, including a very serious fungal infection in his lungs. As you remember, a major area of concern has been his high fever. Yesterday the family had another briefing with the doctor and he said that Bishop is more stable now as far as the infections and fever and we are thankful for that. They have been slowly trying to wean him off the ventilator which means they are very gradually reducing the oxygen levels the ventilator provides as they closely observe to see how well his body takes over the work of breathing and oxygenation. We still have a very very long journey ahead and no one really knows how it will all play out. But for now Bishop will continue to receive the wonderful care hes been receiving as the rest of us continue to pray for Gods will and mercy. Pastor Mary is also doing better. She was able (or maybe I should say forced=) to take a few days just to rest and take care of herself - something she literally hasnt done in nearly 3 months! Shes stronger now, but still needs all our prayers and support. Otherwise, the prayer requests remain the same as usual. Please dont forget to keep giving towards the hospital bill when you can. Even with all the campaigning and fundraising, the hospital bill continues to grow daily by about 100,000 KSH as long as Bishop Ben is there. God bless you so much and thank you for your support. Please remember to pray specifically for the following: - Bishop Bens neurological condition: that he will regain consciousness and full brain function - His lungs: That he will able to come off the ventilator and breathe on his own and that his lungs will be free of infection - That his body will stay clear of infection - The paralysis: that God will do a miracle and heal Bishops spine and spinal cord - His digestive system: that his body will be able to process and absorb the food he is being fed through a tube. Because this isnt happening at the moment, he is being fed intravenously, which is not ideal and he is not getting the calories that he needs - For the family: that God will continue to minister to them, comfort them, and strengthen them. That they would know Him in a capacity theyve never known Him before. And for wisdom as they make decisions concerning Bishop Bens care - For continued financial provision. God has been SO faithful this far. God bless you and thank you for praying for a miracle with us.
