Today I had a coaching session with a young man who was deaf for many years until he received a hearing aid. He shared with me his life story and at times he had me laughing out loud and at other times I could not help but shed tears. One would never know the strength, fearlessness, and godliness of such a man if you were to judge him at face value, or as he struggles to find the right words to express himself. His smile was luminescent, his joy tangible and powerful and his energy was the energy of pure love. I am feeling inspired, grateful and blessed to have been given the incredible privilege of working with people living with disabilities. Time and time again - they continue to show me how incredible they are, not because of their disabilities, but because of their wisdom, their reflective abilities and how they choose to respond in the face of neglect, adversity, poverty, abuse, rejection, abandonment, carrying family responsibilities and all manner of challenges!
