30 years ago today I was declared medically brain dead. For the next several weeks I was kept alive by machines. On the morning of July 3rd, 1984 I was hit by a car while riding my bike. This was in the days before mandatory bike helmets. The impact of my skull hitting the asphalt was so severe that it literally caused brain death -- only my organs were functioning -- and put me into a coma that would last for a month. During those comatose weeks, doctors insisted that my life signs were too low to continue keeping me on Life Support. They suggested disconnecting me from the Machine to allow me to die peacefully. My father fought them at every turn and my posting this story today is testament to the effectiveness of his efforts. After spending the next six months in hospital, I returned to high school. My brain-damaged behavioural problems were so severe that I was bullied mercilessly. Within the space of a week I had attempted suicide twice. The subsequent recovery took 12 years to complete. Along the way I spent an extra 5 years in formal education to achieve my degree in Radio & Television Arts. I went on to a successful, if terribly unfulfilling, career as a Writer, Reporter and News Anchor for a national broadcast. Today, I have the privilege of leading an organization of people who are actively expanding their lives; I have the privilege of associating myself with highly successful people who are committed to personal growth and development, who love to have fun and who are committed to helping other people become financially free and leave a financial legacy for their families for generations to come. So when I take a stand for you or any other person and I come across as being much too passionate, repetitive and -- dare I say it -- even overbearing, understand its because I know that inherently we are all capable of being truly extraordinary. I demand nothing less from myself or from others. Thank you all for allowing me to share my story with you. Much love, Khush .
