Selecting an effective weight volume will stimulate the working - TopicsExpress

Selecting an effective weight volume will stimulate the working muscles and produce swift adaptations. During an exercise session weight volume is accumulative. For example if you are performing Bench press with a bar you will fatigue your Triceps, Front Delts and Biceps. Every set and rep is weight volume multiplied, so 50 pounds over 3 sets of 10 reps is no longer 50 pounds. You are now training your Biceps, remember your shoulders and triceps are fatigued at a greater extent than your biceps from your bench press exercise, so a weight volume that allows you to complete another 10 reps or more that is challenging by the seventh rep to the end will be effective. The best way to determine if you have too much weight for this exercise (arm curls) is to allow the weights in your hands with arms fully extended and in a rested position at your sides, asses if there is tension in your joints from your wrist to your shoulders. If you lift beyond the carrying capability of the working muscle half the weight volume 50%, will be absorbed by your Joints, Ligaments and tendons.
