Talia Jones Roston and Sarah Jones McFadden are based in California, while Jessica Cramer Jones and Annabel Jones live in England, and the family says the distance makes it difficult for them to maintain and enjoy the family home. “Unfortunately, the distances involved make it impossible for us to enjoy this family home where we all share so many happy memories,” says Talia Jones Roston. “Dad treasured this home and considered it a sanctuary where he wrote a lot of his music, and we feel strongly that he would appreciate it being enjoyed as a home again.” Jones, a former jockey and avid horseman, built the horse track that circles the rural property himself, and he housed many of the retired thoroughbreds he rescued in the stables there. Equine non-profit continues Jones’ legacy In 2012, Jones’ daughters created The Davy Jones Equine Memorial Foundation (DJEMF) to protect and care for his herd of 15 former thoroughbreds, and enable them to provide equine therapy for special-needs and at-risk communities. States Sarah Jones McFadden, “DJEMF has enabled us to honor Dad in a very special way, and now that we will be passing on his house and land to someone who can truly enjoy them, we will be able to focus our efforts on the future of the Foundation, and caring for his beloved herd.” Church property to be sold by Estate Another of Jones’ Beavertown properties, a large white-steeple church that he bought to convert into a community center and pop culture museum, is also up for sale. “Dad’s dream had been to give back to the Beavertown community that he loved through the church project,” says Roston. Working with Beavertown’s former mayor Cloyd “Bill” Wagner, the family and the Estate had hoped to continue the renovation, but with the passing of Mayor Wagner in late 2013, it became clear that it would be impossible to fulfill Jones’ dream for the church, and the decision was made to place it on the market.
